Man United could look to make a move to sign in-form Bournemouth left-back, Milos Kerkez.
Manchester United have done a good job at filling gaping holes within the squad over the last couple of summers, though there’s still much work ahead.
I’d argue the next big pressing need comes in the left-back position. Diogo Dalot has done a decent job out there, though Erik ten Hag needs a specialist who is consistently fit. Both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have not been able to do that so far…
The first name linked with potentially filling that void is Milos Kerkez. The Bournemouth left-back burst onto the scene last term, continuing his excellent form into this new season.
It’s Give Me Sport with the story. They state that United have ‘explored’ the profile of the emerging 20-year-old left-back, though he wouldn’t come cheaply. Bournemouth wanted somewhere around £40m to even consider a sale in the summer just gone. You’d imagine that figure will only increase over the next twelve months.
The man from Hungary has been super impressive on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he has shown great awareness and toughness in the tackle, while on the offensive side of the game, Kerkez is more than willing to bomb forward and try to join in on the attack. Some may say he’s the perfect modern day full-back.
Although it’d represent a big chunk of next summer’s budget, it’s now a necessity. I love Shaw but he just cannot be relied upon, while who knows what Malacia is going to look like upon his return? Going into the season without a recognised specialist fit left-back is never a good idea. Kerkez could certainly fill that void.
