“Chasing Wembley”, a new documentary about Bayern’s Champions League journey last season, will be available exclusively on FC Bayern TV Plus from Sunday for two weeks and then also on YouTube.
It will provide behind the scenes insights about last season’s CL nights, where players talk about how they experienced the atmosphere around the matches, about successes and setbacks as well as the special bond that brought the team together in a difficult season
Last season was filled with difficulty, not only was the Thomas Tuchel situation incredibly messy, but Bayer Leverkusen having one of the best-ever Bundesliga campaigns served to expose everything that has gone wrong at the club over the last few years. While it’s reasonable to think that Bayern would want to forget such a disastrous season rather than hold it under a magnifying glass, lessons can be learned from what did and didn’t work.
Yes, Bayern had issues, but there were also positives. Generally speaking, the team performed well in the Champions League, as the players were able to come together and overcome difficult fixtures and were close to beating Real Madrid to reach the final.
A significant portion of Bayern’s core from last season remains. With any luck, the addition of the club’s new signings and a coach that better fits the team’s philosophy and style of play, next season’s documentary will be centered around Bayern’s 2024/25 Champions League triumph.
Why is Bayern Munich doing so much better under Vincent Kompany compared to Thomas Tuchel? What’s changed, and what does it say about the Tuchel era? And what should we expect for the upcoming game against Bayer Leverkusen? We discuss all that and more in our newest podcast episode! Listen to it below or on Spotify.
