West Ham United centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo is clearly a very big fan of one of his teammates.
Jean-Clair Todibo made his first Premier League start for West Ham against Brentford on Saturday, and he took to Instagram after the game to share his delight at that.
Julen Lopetegui brought the 24-year-old to the London Stadium from Nice in the summer on a season-long loan, and we have an obligation to sign the 24-year-old for around £35 million next year.
It was a hugely exciting transfer at the time, and the Hammers were said to have beaten the likes of Juventus, Tottenham and Newcastle United to his signature.
However, Todibo has had to bide his time, and be incredibly patient for his first Premier League start.
Before Saturday’s clash with Brentford, the Frenchman had started against Bournemouth and Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
And he finally got the nod from Lopetegui in the Premier League against the Bees.
Todibo actually looked pretty good, and he spoke after the game about his love for one of his teammates in particular…
Jean-Clair Todibo names West Ham star he loves playing with
The towering Frenchman has all of the attributes needed to be a big hit with the Hammers in the Premier League.
His start in England may well have been slow, but we forget sometimes that new players coming in from abroad need plenty of time to adapt to Premier League football.
Todibo will get there in the end, I have no doubts about that. The thought of the 24-year-old performing at the top of his game alongside Max Kilman is a really exciting one.
And Todibo spoke to WHUFC.com about how much he appreciates the former Wolves man.
He said, “The team has a lot of good quality, a lot of good players. And I love playing with Max [Kilman].“
“I think we have a really good team, we just need time to understand each other. The Club bought nine new players and has a new coach, so we all need time for everything to go well“, Todibo continued
In my opinion, Kilman has been our best and most consistent player so far this season.
Todibo and Kilman an incredible partnership in the making
Once the Frenchman is fully up to speed with Premier League football, he’ll be a superstar for the Hammers, I’m sure of it.
And the 24-year-old’s playing style should compliment Kilman’s perfectly.
They are both very comfortable in possession of the ball, but Kilman is stronger than Todibo in the air, whilst the former Nice man is quicker along the ground than his 27-year-old teammate.
The duo should form a magnificently strong central defensive partnership for many years to come for the Hammers, as long as we keep hold of them both of course!
Jean-Clair Todibo may have endured a tricky start to life at the London Stadium, but his performance for West Ham against Brentford on Saturday was much more like it.
I expect Todibo and Kilman to be two of our very best players under Lopetegui this season and beyond.
