I have to say that I was quietly impressed with yesterday’s performance from summer signing Jean-Clair Todibo. It was the Frenchman’s first league start for the club, and while it wasn’t a scintillating performance, I think it was steady enough to offer encouragement and secure his place in the team.
The defender seems to have a good change of pace, is happy to compete in the air, times his tackles well, and possesses a good range of passing. He’ll need time to develop an understanding with Max Kilman, but early signs are good.
Todibo reflected on his first full 90 minutes in the Premier League, saying, “It felt great to complete my first match here.” He acknowledged the early setback, stating, “We conceded that early goal, but we responded well, and overall, I think we performed strongly.”
He added, “We probably deserved more than just a draw, but a point is still valuable.”
Todibo expressed his satisfaction with the club’s patience, explaining, “I’m grateful for the time the club gave me to regain fitness. I didn’t have a pre-season before joining, so it took a while to get back into shape.”
Commenting on the Premier League’s intensity, he said, “The game here is faster-paced than in Ligue 1, or even compared to other leagues around the world.”
While not yet at peak fitness, he remained optimistic: “I’m not at 100% yet, but I’m confident I’ll improve with time and make a positive impact on the team.”
