A spat between Mohammed Kudus and Julen Lopetegui has dominated the headlines in the West Ham United world over the past few days.
Julen Lopetegui was unhappy with the performance of Mohammed Kudus during the first-half of the Brentford vs West Ham clash.
Julen Lopetegui is under a lot of pressure in his role as Hammers head coach right now, but it has been claimed that his job is under no threat at the moment.
News of the alleged clash between the head coach and the 24-year-old attacker on Saturday piled the pressure on the Spaniard.
There were even claims that the two had to be separated.
The West Ham owners have apparently already contacted Kudus’s representatives in order to explain to them that everything is fine between the player and manager.
So what did really happen behind closed doors?
What happened during Mohammed Kudus and Julen Lopetegui spat
The Hammers fans are concerned that the argument between Lopetegui and Kudus could derail our hopes of getting our season back on track.
And the suggestions of the duo having to be pulled apart were particularly worrying.
Now though, things have been cleared up by some close allies of the Hammers superstar.
According to The Athletic, members of the Ghanaian’s inner circle have made a claim about what actually happened inside the Hammers dressing room at half-time during the Brentford clash.
Roshane Thomas wrote, “Those in Kudus’ inner circle, speaking on condition of anonymity to protect relationships like all those in this article, have denied that he and Lopetegui had to be separated.“
That’s extremely pleasing to hear.
Kudus must find form quickly
We need the Ghana international to rediscover the form he showed for us last season.
Kudus has bagged 14 goals and seven assists in 53 games for the Hammers in all competitions so far.
The problem he has is that Lopetegui has mostly been using him as a left winger – his worst position across the front-line.
Lopetegui has to mix things up and play him either as a number 10, on the right wing, or preferably through the middle as an auxiliary striker.
Mohammed Kudus has so much to offer West Ham, but the onus is on Julen Lopetegui to provide him with the platform he needs to succeed.
Continuing to play him out wide on the left would be utter madness if you ask me.
Hopefully the Spaniard realises that as well, and plays the former Ajax man in a different position when we welcome Ipswich Town to the London Stadium on Saturday.
