West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus has been in the headlines all week, but for the wrong reasons unfortunately.
Mohammed Kudus was one of West Ham United’s best players last season, but he has begun the 2024/25 campaign slowly.
And things went from bad to worse for the Ghana international when he was subbed off at half-time during our clash with Brentford on Saturday.
There was said to be a showdown between Kudus and Julen Lopetegui, with a heated exchange allegedly having taken place in the Hammers dressing room.
However, the West Ham owners have apparently already contacted Kudus’s representatives in order to explain to them that everything is fine between the player and manager.
And those in Kudus’s inner circle have insisted that rumours suggesting Kudus and Lopetegui had to be separated are in fact not true at all.
Whatever actually happened needs to be put behind both the head coach and the player now.
The Hammers need the former Ajax man to be on top form this season.
However, a new claim about Kudus has just come to light that is hugely concerning.
New Mohammed Kudus claim will leave West Ham fans worried
When he’s on his best form, Kudus is actually unplayable.
He’s hugely important to everything good that we do as a team, and we’re extremely reliant on him.
Now though, a very worrying claim has come to light about the former Ajax man.
According to a report from The Athletic, West Ham will struggle to keep hold of Kudus beyond the end of this season.
Roshane Thomas said, “Kudus, whose contract expires in 2028, with the option of a further year, remains a sought-after talent that West Ham will struggle to keep beyond this season.“
It seems like Kudus could well be on his way from the London Stadium within the next 10 months.
Losing the Ghana international really is a terrifying prospect isn’t it.
West Ham fans should enjoy Kudus while we can
When the 24-year-old joined the Hammers from Ajax in the summer of 2023, everyone was shocked that we managed to beat some of the European giants in the race for his signature, Chelsea included.
However, I have always had the sense that the Ghana international was just being parked here for a season or two, before securing a big move to a major club.
We all just need to enjoy him while we can. Kudus has an £85 million release clause inserted into his current contract, and one of the Premier League big boys will undoubtedly activate that next summer.
Losing Mohammed Kudus will be a tough pill to swallow for the West Ham United fans, but if it does happen we have to all be positive about it.
£85 million is very good money, and it will enable Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten to rebuild the squad once again.
Hopefully Kudus enjoys a special season with West Ham, and fires us to some kind of success.
Then if he does leave in the summer of 2025, there won’t need to be any hard feelings. Hopefully all parties will end up winning.
