The West Ham United owners have been called to attend a super important Premier League meeting next week.
David Sullivan took over West Ham alongside the late David Gold back in 2010.
It is hard to argue that Sullivan hasn’t taken West Ham forward as a club over the past 14 years.
Then, back in 2021, Daniel Kretinsky bought into the Hammers, and the Czech billionaire’s wealth has grown exponentially over the past three years.
The West Ham owners, alongside Karren Brady, have received plenty of stick in the past, but they back new manager Julen Lopetegui to the hilt in the summer, as they did David Moyes before him.
The good thing is that they have balanced the books as well, mostly due to the £105 million sale of Declan Rice in the summer of 2023.
We are in good shape financially, but the same can’t be said about some other Premier League clubs.
West Ham owners to attend emergency Premier League meeting
Sullivan and the rest of the Hammers board have been summoned by the league to attend a crisis meeting next week.
The meeting concerns the fallout from Man City’s hearing regarding the legal dispute on commercial deals.
Separately, Manchester City still face 115 charges for allegedly breaching its financial regulations, some of which date back to 2009.
Man City and the Premier League both claimed victories yesterday. And now West Ham have been dragged into the matter it seems.
According to a report from The Times, Manchester City’s general counsel Simon Cliff has sent a letter to West Ham, dismantling the statement by Premier League CEO Richard Masters, regarding the legal dispute on commercial deals.
Masters’ summary has been described as incorrect by Cliff.
As a result, there is set to be an emergency meeting involving all 20 Premier League clubs next week.
That meeting will be very interesting. The Hammers were said to be one of the clubs who ‘acted as witnesses’ for the Premier League, going against Manchester City (BBC).
West Ham are actually in a good position ourselves at the moment, when it comes to the Premier League’s new PSR guidelines.
It will be fascinating to see the outcome of the case being filed against Manchester City.
Thankfully we’re on the outside looking in, and hopefully we will avoid any problems in the future that the likes of Everton, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City seem to have fallen foul of.
