Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has downplayed the rumours linking Liverpool with a potential move for West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus—but not entirely.
How much reassurance this brings to West Ham fans is debatable. To paraphrase Romano, “Liverpool are not pursuing Kudus… yet.”
The Ghanaian winger looked back to his best again by scoring in West Ham’s 4-1 victory over Ipswich. As we’ve reported earlier today, Kudus continues to rank among Europe’s elite dribblers.
Romano clarified that there is no “concrete” progress in any deal between Liverpool and Kudus at the moment.
“Regarding Kudus and Liverpool, there’s currently nothing concrete to report,” said Romano, leaving some room for speculation.
“There will be 100 links a day with Liverpool, especially with Salah’s contract situation, but as of now, Liverpool aren’t in talks or planning a move. They’re simply exploring options while continuing discussions with Salah about his contract.”
He further added, “Nothing serious is happening with Kudus at the moment; it’s not something for October or November.”
In other words, it’s hard to tell. Reading between the lines, it’s possible that if Mo Salah were to leave Liverpool, a January move for Kudus might be on the table. There were far too many ‘yets’ and ‘at the moments’ for my liking so this is a situation that is far from put to bed.
