Dominic Calvert-Lewin was speaking after Everton made it three games unbeaten with a 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle United
Dominic Calvert-Lewin believes Everton have turned a corner after putting together a three-match unbeaten run. Sean Dyche’s side lost their first four games, twice conceding 2-0 leads, but took five points from the next three.
A first Premier League clean sheet in Saturday’s goalless draw with Newcastle United was another significant moment for a team which finished the previous campaign with the top-flight’s fourth-best defensive record despite finishing 15th.
“I think we’ve definitely turned a corner from the past three games,” Blues striker Calvert-Lewin told evertontv. “We’ve picked up points in the last three games and that’s the positive.

“I think on the ball maybe we can be a little bit better; a bit more decisive in the final third and I think that’s the next thing, the next stage.”
Calvert-Lewin has scored twice in seven appearances so far this season after scoring four goals in the opening games in the 2023-24 campaign. However, a number of injury niggles meant he did not find the net again until April and he is feeling more comfortable.
“Physically, mentally I feel very good. I’m in great shape and I back myself to keep putting in good performances and keep scoring more goals,” added Calvert-Lewin, who is in the final year of his contract.
“I’m happy with where I’m at at the moment. Like any centre-forward I want to be in the back of the net regularly, so that’s on the agenda.”
“But I feel like I’ve started well and I’m looking forward to keep building on it.”
Everton, who are 16th in the early standings, return to action on Saturday week away to newly promoted Ipswich Town, who are one place below them in 17th.
