At the same time as former Hammer Thilo Kehrer is paraded as the most effective centre back in Europe, (whoscored.com), West Ham are being linked with another centre back at more than twice the price we sold Kehrer for. Infuriating, as soon as a player leaves West Ham he becomes a world beater. The truth is displayed for all to see:
So, whether it was a Moyes sale or a Steidten sale, it was a bad deal for the club and Kehrer had much, much more to offer. Couldn’t we just use him now. I don’t think he was ever really fully utilised by West Ham, playing as a right back most of the time.
So, to see links today between West Ham United and centre back Fikayo Tomori via Milan Live feels like The Hammers may be considering compounding one bad decision with another if the interest in Tomori leads to an offer in January.
Yes we need another centre-back.
But: Tomori has had an error strewn season with AC Milan and is falling out of favour. Apparently there are ‘issues’ with his attitude too. Not something anyone could ever claim of Thilo Kehrer who was a brilliant squad asset.
Haven’t we already got one error – prone central defender? To pay twenty something million euros for another seems pointless. Frankly, if he’s not good enough for AC Milan, he isn’t good enough for West Ham United. Why would they sell him if he was as good as is being suggested?
That’s a ‘pass’ on that one, please, West Ham. There are far better quality defenders out there.
We have outgrown the error strewn and the ‘questionable attitude’ players. Should have kept Kehrer !
If the next one is not a step up from Kehrer, we don’t want him. Next.
