West Ham United brought Carlos Soler in on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
After joining West Ham from PSG, Carlos Soler instantly fell in love with the club, and praised the Hammers fans to the hilt.
The 27-year-old has been eased into action very slowly indeed by Julen Lopetegui, which is surprising given the woeful form of Lucas Paqueta.
The Hammers boss will surely give Soler a run of starts now though, after another shocker from Paqueta away at Tottenham.
The midfielder is an exceptionally gifted player from a technical perspective. He has creativity and guile in abundance, and can really break the lines with his superb passing ability.
I have no doubts whatsoever that Soler will end up being a fantastic player for West Ham this term.
However, will the Spaniard still be at the London Stadium after the end of this season?
Carlos Soler makes extremely honest West Ham admission
The PSG owned midfielder is still adapting to life in the Premier League.
We haven’t seen him enough of him to pass judgement yet – he definitely needs a regular run of starts before we see the best of him.
I get the sense that Soler might not be given the platform to showcase his best stuff with us though, especially if we end up getting embroiled in a relegation battle.
And now he’s made a stunning admission that will really disappoint the fans.
Soler spoke to Marca, and opened up about his future at the London Stadium.
He said, “In my case, I’m going to stay for a year, and I don’t know what will happen when the season is over. But I was seduced by the idea of facing this change, fighting every weekend to get into the eleven and West Ham was the best option.”
Now, we all know that we’ve got him on loan without an option, but I must admit, I thought it would be one of those things where it was all done and dusted behind the scenes.
I reality, Lopetegui’s future is far from certain, so Soler is not going to be either is it.
What I do know is that he is a fantastic footballer, and we really to start seeing more of him in action now.
I really hope that Carlos Soler joins West Ham on a permanent deal in the summer – it will be a terrible waste if he doesn’t.
