Ben Johnson left West Ham United to join Ipswich Town on a free transfer in the summer.
The 24-year-old came through the ranks at the West Ham academy, but in the end it was deemed he wasn’t good enough for the money he was demanding.
Interestingly, Ben Johnson was one of the worst players on the pitch when he returned to the London Stadium with Ipswich Town earlier this month.
When Johnson burst onto the scene with the Hammers as a teenager way back in 2019, he looked like the real deal.
It seemed like we had the next big thing on our hands. Unfortunately though, he regressed badly for West Ham during his final two years at the London Stadium.
Most Hammers fans understood the decision to let Johnson leave, although it was sad to see someone who’s been at the club since 2007 move on.
With Johnson long gone now, you would think that not many West Ham fans will even think about him anymore.
However, the official club website has made sure that he will be fresh in the minds of the Hammers supporters for a while yet.
West Ham commit cardinal sin with Ben Johnson on official website
Seriously, I was shocked this morning when browsing the official club website for retro West Ham shirts.
As I scrolled down past the 1975 and 1980 FA Cup winning shirts, I came across the 2006 FA Cup final shirt.
And you won’t believe who was modelling it…Ben Johnson himself!
I’m sorry, but that just sums us up as a club right now.
How on earth has that not been checked? It can’t be hard to get a quick photo of one of our current players modelling the kit!
I have nothing against Johnson personally, but having a former player modelling one of our old kits just isn’t a great look in my opinion.
Ben Johnson has moved on from West Ham now, and it’s clear to see that we as a club need to do the same!
