It’s funny how Jeff Stelling has become almost unbearable to listen to since joining the talkSPORT team isn’t it!
Jeff Stelling seems to have narrowed in on West Ham as a target, and specifically our fans, over the past six months or so
The 69-year-old seemed to imply last season that the West Ham fans were greedy and unrealistic for demanding a successful team AND an attractive brand of football.
And then dinosaur Stelling suggested that the Hammers should build a statue of David Moyes at the London Stadium after what he did for us.
He clearly has something against us, or maybe he’s just honing in on West Ham in an effort to farm clicks and interaction.
Either way, it’s still incredibly annoying how he talks down to us as fans, especially when he insinuates that little old West Ham should merely be happy with our lot, rather than having the sheer audacity to demand more.
Smug Jeff Stelling misses the point with embarrassing West Ham fans dig
The well-known football pundit was discussing the Hammers’ campaign so far under Julen Lopetegui, when speaking on talkSPORT on Monday morning (October 21st, 6:46am).
Sure, things haven’t been going great, but the knee-jerk reactions I’m seeing from so many pundits and fans really is quite laughable.
Stelling fell into that trap today, when he tried to undermine the West Ham fans.
The talkSPORT presenter responded just after reading out a text from a Hammers fan.
He said, “What’s happened to Jim and all these West Ham fans who texted you every day with ‘Moyes out’? You all asked for this but you’re conspicuously quiet these days. You reap what you sow, guys.“
Here’s the thing Jeff. Just because Lopetegui is struggling right now, it doesn’t mean that the decision to sack Moyes was the wrong one.
Firstly, the Spaniard still needs time to bed in his ideas at the London Stadium.
And secondly, it’s not as if the Hammers fans were all crying out for the board to appoint the so-called ‘Spanish Moyes’ is it?
The majority of us wanted a young, progressive and forward-thinking manager – someone like Ruben Amorim or Sebastian Hoeness to replace Moyes.
Julen Lopetegui still has plenty of time to turn things around at West Ham and prove the likes of Jeff Stelling wrong.
However, if he isn’t able to do that, it doesn’t mean that the Hammers made an error by moving Moyes on.
Smug Stelling never seems to learn does he.
