Tottenham scouts are keeping regular tabs on FC Midtjylland starlet Dario Osorio
Tottenham Hotspur completed some smart deals in the summer transfer window, bolstering the Ange Postecoglou-managed squad that finished fifth in the Premier League last season.
It was a successful first season in north London for Ange Postecoglou as he helped Spurs get back in Europe. Given the Greek-Australian’s impact, Daniel Levy and Co. backed him well in the summer transfer window. While results this season have been hugely inconsistent, Postecoglou has the support of the management to turn the club’s fortunes around.
In the meantime, Daniel Levy and Johan Lange appear to have started planning for the next transfer windows. To that end, the duo have identified another young prospect who could join the club’s ranks in 2025.
According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham have been on regular scouting missions to watch FC Midtjylland winger Dario Osorio. They have been securing detailed scouting reports on the youngster’s development in Denmark, thus, making him a potential target in the coming years.
Dario Osorio joined FC Midtjylland in August 2023 for €5.2 million from boyhood club Universidad de Chile. The 20-year-old, who has been likened to Argentinean World Cup winner Angel di María due to his playing style, has enjoyed a strong start to the season with three goals and an assist in 20 appearances across all competitions.
Considering how vital he is to Middle Jutland’s side, the Danish Superliga side do not want to lose the Chile international during the mid-season trading period. They want to retain his services as Jutland and Co. go on the hunt for silverware and progress in the Europa League.
The aforementioned report adds Spurs are in search of a winger to cover and compete with Brennan Johnson, but a potential January deal being unlikely for Osorio means they are forced to remain patient for now.
However, there will be an opportunity for the north London side to test FC Midtjylland’s resolve with a formal offer in the summer if the young wide attacker continues to show promising signs throughout the rest of the campaign.
Primarily a right-winger, the South American prodigy is versatile enough to operate through the middle as witnessed this season, with Jutland using him as a right-sided midfielder in certain games to improve his team’s productivity in front of goal. Such versatility to drop into pockets in midfield, stitch play, link up with his teammates and create opportunities should be viewed as a big plus for Spurs.
-> Tight wage structure hindered Tottenham from signing England international who Postecoglou wanted
Tottenham do not lack of competition for Osorio, with Liverpool, Brentford, Manchester United and Real Madrid all admirers of his talent. Therefore, Levy and Lange along with the scouts are impressed with the Midtjylland talent’s development and feel he could make a significant long-term impact, we must act in January itself with a tempting bid and not wait until the summer.
