West Ham United play host to Everton in the Premier League this weekend, and everyone knows that Julen Lopetegui badly needs a win.
Julen Lopetegui took over at West Ham in the summer and proceeded to bring nine top quality new signings to the London Stadium.
However, things haven’t quite gone to plan for the Hammers head coach so far, and real questions are being asked regarding his suitability to the job.
It has actually been claimed by Fabrizio Romano that the West Ham owners are contemplating sacking Lopetegui and replacing him with Edin Terzic.
That said, it has also been suggested by the likes of Jacob Steinberg that the Hammers board will not rush into making a decision on the 58-year-old’s future, even if we fail to beat Everton.
I can safely assume that the majority of West Ham fans want Lopetegui gone right now, and even a win over Everton probably won’t change that.
Now a big new claim has just been made by a journalist with contacts in high places at the London Stadium.
Julen Lopetegui claim made ahead of West Ham vs Everton
The games don’t come much bigger than the three o’clock kick-off at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Both West Ham and Everton desperately need a positive result, but it seems like the Hammers are under more pressure to achieve that than the visitors.
Lopetegui is under intense pressure, that much is obvious to see, and it’s little wonder as to why, considering some of the garbage we’ve seen this season.
What will happen if we lose to Everton though, with a two-week international break taking place before our next Premier League game?
Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas has made a truly staggering suggestion ahead of the clash with the Toffees this weekend.
Thomas has suggested that if Lopetegui could be sacked if the Hammers ‘fail to produce a convincing performance’.
That to me suggests that the Hammers owners have had enough of the team’s lack of footballing identity and drab playing style.
I’m all for giving managers time to prove themselves, but only if it’s obvious to see what they’re trying to do.
Regarding West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui, that couldn’t be further from the truth right now.
He looks completely clueless, devoid of any ideas to make things better and worst of all, he looks like a defeated man.
It would be in everyone’s best interest to put him out of his misery now if you ask me.
