Things aren’t looking great for Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United right now are they?
Julen Lopetegui took over as the new West Ham United head coach in the summer, and proceeded to bring nine new players to the London Stadium.
However, not only have the Hammers failed to make any progress, we’ve actually gone backwards it seems.
West Ham are a mess right now, with a lack of any kind of footballing identity, and the fans have had enough.
Lopetegui bit his nose off to spite his face with some of his strange decisions before and during our clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
And now he probably needs a win against Everton to keep his job.
Who knows, even a victory on its own might not be enough this weekend…
Mind-blowing Julen Lopetegui sack claim will stun West Ham fans
Lopetegui has failed to impress one little bit since taking over from David Moyes at the London Stadium.
Many Hammers fans want him gone already, and it appears as though that may well happen sooner rather than later.
The Times have just shared a stark warning for Lopetegui ahead of the Hammers’ showdown with the Toffees on Saturday afternoon.
The British broadsheet newspaper suggest that the Spaniard is ‘under increasing pressure of an early exit after being told that results must improve by West Ham United’.
It is claimed that there is confidence amongst the board that Lopetegui will turn things around at the London Stadium.
However, The Times say that there is an onus on him to produce a big performance and result against Everton on Saturday.
Now, if the Toffees beat us, does that mean that the Spaniard will definitely be sacked? Or could Lopetegui be moved on even if the Hammers win, but fail to produce a convincing display?
Jacob Steinberg claimed on Sunday that that won’t be the case, but I’m not so sure.
Don’t get me wrong, it would be a huge shock to everyone if the Hammers board parted ways with Lopetegui, whatever the result against Everton.
David Sullivan is not someone to sack managers willy nilly, especially if we are not in immediate danger of relegation.
There are no excuses not to beat Everton, and if Lopetegui is incapable of getting a performance out of his team, it will be clear to me that he has lost the dressing room.
He will absolutely have to go if we lose to the Toffees, and what better time to sack a manager and appoint a new one than at the start of a two-week international break?
I think it’s clear to see that Lopetegui is a dead man walking. Even if we do beat Everton, we face games against Newcastle and Arsenal after the international break.
What happens if we lose both of those matches? The cycle will start over again.
The West Ham owners should sack Julen Lopetegui before the international break, regardless of the result against Everton, if they really want to take our great club to the next level.
