So it seems like Maurizio Sarri could be the man to replace Julen Lopetegui if he is sacked from West Ham United.
The footballing philosophies of Maurizio Sarri and Julen Lopetegui could not be more different, and I personally think West Ham would really improve under the Italian, what with his silky footballing philosophy.
He was actually linked with the Hammers job only last month.
And as Lopetegui continues to struggle in his role as Hammers head coach, he may well be looking over his shoulder worried about the Sarri reports.
Things have gone from bad to worse for the Hammers over the past week, and everything came to a head on Saturday at Nottingham Forest.
So if we do lose to Everton and Lopetegui is sacked, could Sarri really take over at the London Stadium.
Maurizio Sarri to West Ham claim will have Lopetegui sweating
The Italian could well be heading back to the Premier League sooner rather than later.
So could West Ham really bring Sarri to East London?
According to a report from CalciomercatoWeb, Sarri is an option for West Ham, and the 65-year-old Italian is said to be on the Hammers’ shortlist of potential Lopetegui replacements.
If the Hammers fans want properly exciting football, Sarri is the man for the job.
The ex-Chelsea manager is currently out-of-work, so David Sullivan wouldn’t have to pay him a penny to bring him to the London Stadium.
Sarri is well-renowned for getting his teams to play some of the most attractive football that’s ever been witnessed. His Napoli team were sensational, and he got a real tune out of the Chelsea players as well during his stint in England.
He favours a possession-based system, and I have no doubts that he would be able to get the absolute best out of the current players.
If Julen Lopetegui is moved on from West Ham, I actually think Maurizio Sarri would be a really exciting option for us.
The football would certainly be a whole lot better, that’s for sure!
