Bayern Munich hosted a firm Benfica side that defended very deep and sprang counters to varying degrees of success. The game could have gone either way as As Águias had the upper hand, but it was the Rekordmeister who broke the deadlock through Jamal Musiala, set up by Leroy Sané and Harry Kane. Musiala knew Benfica defended well and emphasized that a win is a win.
“We had good moments. The opponent defended well. It was very important to get 3 points today.” Musiala said after the game (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “We don’t have to win every game by 4 or 5 goals. Sometimes 1-0 is enough. We had to be patient. Now we carry on and look to the next game”.
Bayern take on St. Pauli and Augsburg in the Bundesliga, before another international break sees Germany host Bosnia and Herzegovina in Freiburg and travel to Budapest to face off against Hungary. After that, the Bavarians take on the flailing Frenchmen in the form of Paris Saint-Germain on matchday five of the UCL.
