West Ham starboy Mohammed Kudus has been punished with a further two-match ban after admitting a charge of violent conduct following his red card against Tottenham last month.
One can only assume the reason he admitted the charge of violent conduct was to receive a reduced ban, considering he was guilty of nothing more sever than a push. I may be a biased West Ham fan, but having watched footage of the incident back numerous times, I am convinced that Mickey Van de Ven pushed Kudus with far more force than the Ghanaian retaliated with.
The big Spurs defender claimed he felt a punch in the face, and quite how anyone has allowed this charade to continue is beyond me. The Hammers winger undoubtedly deserved the red card, but the way Tottenham players threw themselves to the ground was an embarrassment. Unfortunately it would appear that whilst Kudus absolutely lost control, it is he who is being punished despite not being the player who initiated the shoving.
The additional suspension takes the winger’s ban to five games in total, meaning he will not play again until the Leicester match on December 3.
Kudus has also been hit with a £60,000 fine for kicking out at Van de Ven and sparking the skirmish, but the Dutchman was far from innocent, undoubtedly escalating the scuffle with his initial shove.
