Good on-the-ball deep-lying playmakers are a rare commodity in football, and if Rodri’s recent Ballon d’Or win is anything to go by, they’re only going to be taken more seriously going forward.
Hugo Larsson is one such player who is new on the scene and has already established himself as a starter at Eintracht Frankfurt. And it looks like he won’t be at the German Bundesliga club for too long.
Tottenham emerge as Hugo Larsson suitors alongside Arsenal and Liverpool
As reported by Sky Germany journalist Kerry Hau, Tottenham have emerged alongside Liverpool and Arsenal as clubs keen to land Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson in the coming months.
In little over a year at the Waldstadion, the 20-year-old deep-lying midfielder has established himself as a first-team operator, having already made over 50 appearances for the club and delivered eight goal contributions.
The 20-year-old arrived at Frankfurt from Malmö last year for €9 million, but already his market value has reached €28 million, as per Transfermarkt.
Larsson currently has in place a €1.89m-per-year contract set to run until June 2029.
A scalp for the ages
The trend of big Premier League clubs coming in early for young prospects along with his profile makes Larsson a player unlikely to remain at Frankfurt for long.
Of the three clubs touted here, Liverpool are arguably the ones in need of midfield reinforcement more than the other two, so one should expect them to go most gung-ho for the young Swede.
