Manchester City winger Jack Grealish has been called up for England’s Nations League fixtures against Greece and the Republic of Ireland next week.
The 29-year-old has been selected alongside Rico Lewis, Kyle Walker and Phil Foden in Lee Carsley’s squad.
Considering Grealish has not played for his club since the win over Wolves last month, fans on X are very surprised by his inclusion, with some even theorising that the England international isn’t injured at all:
How is this possible!?

If he plays for England before City while we are in the injury crisis we are in I think he is as good as gone in the summer.

If grealish plays then I will definitely know there is something going on behind the scenes

Guardiola has said that Grealish isn’t fit
Speaking about the player’s fitness following the defeat to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup last week, manager Pep Guardiola said he would have “no chance” of playing in the fixtures before the international break.
Considering that Grealish has already been out for five matches, it is rather odd that England have decided that he is fit for selection.
Could Grealish return to face Brighton?
We may find out about the player’s availability when Guardiola holds his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Brighton this weekend.
If England are confident that Grealish will be fit to play on Thursday next week, it may suggest that they have been given some prior warning that the player is close to making his comeback.
