Julen Lopetegui has named his West Ham United starting XI for the clash with Everton at the London Stadium today.
West Ham desperately need a victory today, and Julen Lopetegui has to find a way to extract a top performance from the players in his starting XI as well.
If neither of those two things happen at the London Stadium this afternoon, the Spaniard could well be sacked.
Everton will be no pushovers – they are a very well drilled side, who are extremely hard to beat on their day under Sean Dyche.
And they definitely have some talented attacking players who are capable of hurting the Hammers.
Whoever plays for us today will have to be on their very best form.
The eagerly anticipated West Ham starting XI has just been released, so how has Lopetegui decided to line up?
West Ham starting XI vs Everton confirmed
The nerves will have well and truly kicked in now for the Hammers fans.
The idea of a loss against the Toffees really doesn’t bare thinking about.
This is how Lopetegui has decided to set up his team for the Everton clash, as confirmed via the club’s official X account.
Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Max Kilman, Jean-Clair-Todibo, Emerson Palmieri, Guido Rodriguez, Tomas Soucek, Lucas Paqueta, Crysencio Summerville, Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio
Lopetegui has made two changes from the 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground last weekend.
However, the biggest call made by the Spaniard today was his decision to keep Lucas Paqueta in the side.
He should have been dropped today as far as i’m concerned, and Lopetegui bottled that call.
The outcome of this afternoon’s match will have a huge bearing on what happens with Lopetegui.
Will he remain in charge at the London Stadium or will he be sacked?
A convincing performance and a resounding win could change the narrative very quickly.
However, a defeat and/or a drab display may well see Lopetegui handed his P-45 immediately after the game.
The West Ham starting XI selected by the Spaniard is certainly good enough to get the job done today.
Whether the players turn up or not is another matter entirely though.
