West Ham are reportedly edging closer to beating Everton in the race to sign Tariq Lamptey.
While ordinarily, this type of speculation is a load of old nonsense the rumours can’t be dismissed. The reports come from Football Insider, the same outlet that accurately broke Ruben Amorim’s secret London visit regarding the managerial position at the club.
Everton’s need for a right-back is glaring, as highlighted during our recent 0-0 stalemate at the London Stadium. Manager Sean Dyche currently relies on aging duo Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young, making Lamptey an attractive target.
Brighton face a dilemma with the 23-year-old full-back, whose contract expires next summer. Fearing a free transfer, the Seagulls could cash in during January. Despite limited minutes this season, Lamptey made a significant impact in his sole Premier League appearance, providing an assist during a brief 10-minute cameo.
With Brighton reportedly open to offers, this transfer could heat up as the January window approaches but West Ham surely have more important priority transfer targets down the spine of the team given yesterdays Fullkrug and Rodriguez revelations.
