Jakub Kiwior struggled with Poland against Scotland on Monday night amid continuing talk about a potential January transfer away from Arsenal.
Poland suffered relegation from League A of the Nations League on Monday night, losing to Scotland to miss out on the relegation play-offs.
Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior was part of the starting lineup on the day, and he struggled in the first half as Scotland took the upper hand in the clash.
The centre-back could only watch on as Liverpool’s Ben Doak cut a pass back behind him to find John McGinn for 1-0, and he was lucky that Scott McTominay didn’t quite make it two after getting in behind him.
Things did improve after that, and there was no blame attached to Kiwior for Andy Robertson’s 93rd-minute winner, after Kamil Piatkowski had drawn Poland level with a wonderstrike.
But the Arsenal man does seem to be down on confidence at the moment, likely related to his limited minutes under Mikel Arteta.
Kiwior has played seven times for the Gunners this season, but he’s made just two starts, both in the League Cup. Though he did well to provide two assists in his second start against Preston, it didn’t lead to any further minutes in the following three fixtures.
Charles Watts reports for the Daily Briefing that if a decent offer arrives for Kiwior from Italy in January, he believes it’s one Arsenal would consider, regardless of the recent injury to Ben White.
Italian clubs have consistently been linked with Kiwior, likely in part due to his history in Serie A. The 24-year-old has already proven he can be a success in the country with Spezia, so the incentive is there to pick him up if Arsenal make him available.
