Former Everton player Anders Limpar has his say on Sean Dyche’s future and the struggles of the team this season
Everton’s FA Cup winning winger Anders Limpar believes Sean Dyche is still the right man for the Blues job – but thinks he could get more from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Limpar conceded the start to the season had been a poor one and that Everton appeared to be playing “survival football”. Yet the former Sweden international gave his backing to Dyche ahead of the return of domestic football following the international break.
He said: “Sean Dyche is the right manager for the club right now. Everton are struggling when it comes to collecting points and I can see we are already playing survival football. I can’t really see the game plan we’re trying to use.

“But when it comes to Sean Dyche I rate him. He will pick Everton back up and get them to the middle of the table. A lot of Everton fans want a new era with a new stadium and owners but they need to have patience. Nobody can be a magician. He can’t be a magician.”
While he was happy to support Dyche, Limpar was keen to highlight areas for improvement.
And, unsurprisingly for a wide player whose efforts were key to the success of his side in the 1995 FA Cup semi-final and final, his focus was on Everton’s struggling attack.
Limpar told mybettingsites.co.uk: “They should play 4-4-2. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin, he’s a great striker but doesn’t get the service or the chances. He needs service. Especially when you play upfront alone.”
“[Iliman] Ndiaye is a revelation and he should play up front with Calvert-Lewin and they will score more goals. Dominic is so isolated up there alone.”
“Some of the players cross the ball for the sake of crossing rather than having a plan of where to cross the ball. If Dominic had two unbelievable players around him, he’s a 25-30 goals a season player easily.”
