Everton fought to a 1-1 draw with Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium
Pep Guardiola denied being frustrated with his side after Manchester City were unable to return to winning ways against Everton. The Blues left the Etihad Stadium with a valuable point after Iliman Ndiaye’s cushioned half-volley cancelled out Bernardo Silva’s early goal.
Guardiola was questioned about his demeanour on the touchline as his side struggled to break through the visitors’ defence for a second time but responded to claims he had looked unhappy: “That is not true. My body language was positive because the team played really good.”
He maintained that position after further questions, pointing to Everton’s stunning defensive record – Sean Dyche’s side had kept seven clean sheets in the 10 league games leading into the match.

Man City had the perfect chance for a second when Savinho won a second half penalty but Jordan Pickford denied Erling Haaland from the spot.
Praising Everton as a “top team”, Guardiola added: “I think we were very patient. I think we played a lot except for the last two or three actions… I think we were patient, of course with the momentum that is in the season and the situation everything takes more time to make it work.
“When we play bad I will say in the press conference we should have done better, and we were not good enough.
“But today that was not the case against a top team, one of the best for clean sheets with the chances that we had, not just the penalty.”
