Tottenham Hotspur are in dire need of a new central defender as we approach the start of the winter transfer window, and for the better part of the season, the Lilywhites head coach, Ange Postecoglou, would no doubt have wished Croatian sensation Luka Vušković was a Spurs player multiple times in the first half of the 2024/25 campaign.
The North Londoners secured his signatures in the last summer transfer window but are expecting the teenager to move to England in the next summer window after he turns 18. Tottenham beat the likes of Manchester City and PSG to sign the 17-year-old, which shows how highly regarded he already is.
Vušković is showing his brilliance as Tottenham await his arrival
At the moment, Vušković is currently plying his trade with Westerlo in Belgium, and he is making quite an impression on his temporary employers in the ongoing campaign. He has netted six goals in 20 Belgian Pro League appearances, with his most recent goal coming in the form of a bicycle kick in a 4-3 league defeat to Club Brugge on Boxing Day at Jan Breydel Stadium.
And John Wenham, owner of the highly reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, insists that the Croat will be worth the wait at White Hart Lane. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham couldn’t hold back on his appreciation for the teenager. The podcast host said:
“It is like he was made in a science lab. This time he popped up with an acrobatic bicycle kick to score his sixth league goal of the season as a 17-year-old centre-back. It is crazy what he is doing.
“Therefore, long may it continue. He just seems to be a crazy good prospect.”
With the way things are going at the moment at Hotspur Way, Ange Postecoglou would be hoping to get to work with Luka when he comes through the doors at N17 in the summer.
