According to a report from Relevo journalist Jorge Picon, FC Barcelona is still making a push for Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, who is now free to start talking to other teams about his future:
Barcelona is not willing to give up the fight despite their worrying financial situation. They have spoken with the player’s entourage and have assured that they are willing to make a good offer, but what happened with (Dani) Olmo shows that they are far from being able to take the Canadian.
Meanwhile, other big clubs with a lot of money have also asked for an audience with his agents. Mainly from the Premier League, from where he has received several offers. Among the candidates, Manchester United seems to have taken a backseat for the player. Liverpool, like Madrid, see it as a good market opportunity but signing a left-back is not among their priorities.
With all the pieces on the board, some of them already in place for months, they can now start to move. Bayern will have priority, as they have the power to keep the player in their ranks. But a series of suitors, including Real Madrid as the favourite if he leaves the German club, are waiting for their moment.
FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Liverpool FC appear to be the frontrunners for Davies given how it seems that Manchester City and Manchester United have taken a pass on the Canadian (at least for now).
The good news for Bayern Munich fans is that the club will get the first opportunity to convince Davies to stay. If the club fails, though, Davies will have no shortage of suitors.
