Coming just days after the news that record signing Evanilson has had surgery on his foot, AFC Bournemouth supporters have now learned of the “devasting” news that AFC Bournemouth striker Enes Ünal has suffered a tear to his right anterior cruciate ligament.
The Türkiye international was set for a regular starting role in the absence of Evanilson, but he will now join the Brazilian on the sidelines as he is set to undergo surgery to repair the ligament in the coming days, with a lengthy period of rehabilitation after that point. Each individual is different in regards to predicting a timespan that he could be unavailable for, but an example could be Lewis Cook, who has suffered two ACL injuries, with nine-month time scales between injury and edging close to first-team training.
The Cherries were already short of numbers with Evanilson’s injury, but that is compounded further with Ünal’s news.
AFC Bournemouth are now expected to enter the January transfer market in search of a new striker for the second half of the season, in the hopes of persuing an outside chance of European qualification.

Gutting for us but particularly tragic for Enes as he was finally, due to the misfortune of others, about to get a decent run of games to play himself into the form he is capable of.
He must be absolutely heartbroken. So sad for him!
We should all spare a thought for Enes when pondering whether or not this is the end of our challenge for Europe.
I think not. In Bill Foley and Andoni Iraola we trust. We’ll be alright. We will triumph in adversity!
