West Ham Snub Monaco Loan Offer for Edson Alvarez
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed that West Ham have rejected a loan proposal from Monaco for midfielder Edson Alvarez. The Italian ITK shared the news on his social media platforms earlier today.
The Hammers are keen to generate funds for a squad rebuild, a priority heightened by the long-term injury to striker Niclas Füllkrug, as reported by Claret & Hugh.
However, Romano clarified that Monaco’s approach was limited to a loan deal, which holds little appeal for West Ham.
The Mexican international nearly left the club before the current season began, with Manchester United rumoured to have tabled a £60 million offer. However, Alvarez sustained an injury during a Copa América match against Jamaica, which ruled him out of the season’s start and scuppered the potential move.
Since returning to fitness, Alvarez has struggled to replicate last season’s form but has only played once under new manager Graham Potter.

“AS Monaco have submitted an initial bid for Edson Alvarez. Loan proposal has been rejected by West Ham. Talks continue as Monaco want Alvarez and can offer UCL football, but it’s not easy as West Ham still consider the Mexican midfielder an important player.”
