Amadou Onana scored the equaliser for Aston Villa in their FA Cup Third Round win over West Ham United at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon
Aston Villa’s Amadou Onana has issued a warning to his team about the potential impact of a new manager at Goodison Park, having experienced it firsthand. The £50m midfielder, who moved from Merseyside to join Unai Emery’s squad in their Champions League debut season, scored the equalising goal in Villa’s 2-1 victory over West Ham, securing their place in the FA Cup Fourth Round.
Onana anticipates that Everton will be eager to impress new boss David Moyes in their upcoming match on Tuesday.
He said: “We’ve got to be really careful – because I’ve been there myself when, when Sean Dyche came in for his first game.”

He added: “I think it was against Arsenal at home. It gives you that extra motivation, extra drive. So we really have to be careful, respect them and, yeah, prepare the game. But I’m sure our gaffer will have a plan – and we’ll follow that.”
Reflecting on his time with Everton, Onana shared his excitement ahead of the first meeting between the two sides since Everton secured their Premier League status with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.
He said: “Goodison Park is special, you know, because that’s the place that gave me the opportunity to showcase my abilities in the Premier League. I was grateful for the opportunity, but yeah, looking forward to it.
“I enjoy playing at Goodison, I hope this time it will be better for us.”
“I respect the fans but I don’t want them to be too happy next week. I might allow that for this week (the week after). I hope it’ll be better for us.”, He added, reports the Mirror.
David Moyes comes into the fold at Everton with the team precariously positioned 16th in the Premier League, hovering just a point above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa are sitting more comfortably in eighth, eyeing European spots and could push further up with a victory, should other match outcomes swing in their favour.
