In Bayern Munich’s opening match of the year against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Leroy Sané played on the left side of the attack and had a poor game. In Bayern’s second match of the year, Sané played on the right side of the attack, scored two goals and had a great game. So Sané is better on the right, right?
Well, when asked about Sané’s playing more effectively on the right, Vincent Kompany refused to attribute these improvements to the former Schalke 04 player’s position.
“This statement is too black-white for me,” Bayern’s head coach stated (via @iMiaSanMia). “He played on the left against Leipzig and scored a goal. With the qualities of our players, even if things don’t work well in one game, we know what they have to bring to the pitch in the next game. It’s not just Leroy, but also the others. The most important thing for me is even when he doesn’t score, he works hard for the team. I can also live with that.”
Though, of course, it is easier to live with such performances. This one offered a timely reminder of the 29-year-old’s quality in his quest to win a new contract at Bayern Munich.
