Tottenham are not having the season they dreamed of, with the team now sitting in 15th place and piling pressure on Ange. Currently, 11 players are out of action, leaving the squad thinner than ever. Strengthening the team during the current transfer window has become a necessity, especially with reports emerging that striker Richarlison might be leaving.
Richarlison, who impressed during the 2022 World Cup and at Everton, has struggled to reach those same levels at Tottenham. Frequently criticised as one of the club’s poorer signings, injuries have limited him to just eight appearances across all competitions this season, with only one of those being a start (against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League). The 27-year-old is now eyeing a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League, where interest in his transfer has been ongoing for some time.
Reports suggests Richarlison wants out
Richarlison, who signed for Tottenham ahead of the previous World Cup, hasn’t been given consistent game time, and so far, has only made 25 goal contributions in 74 appearances, a pretty disappointing number for a striker at a top-six club. The Brazilian is contracted to Tottenham until June 2027 and has not yet agreed to an extension. Throughout his time at the North London club, he has mostly played as a centre-forward but has also been deployed on both the left and right wings.
According to the latest update by Football Insider, it is believed that Richarlison is leaving Tottenham due his substandard time at the N17.
The report further indicates that Richarlison has his eyes on an affluent move to the Saudi Pro League, which considers him an achievable target and one who can enhance its profile. That his lack of minutes can go all the way to cause him to make such a decision is noticeable, though still, injuries have much to do with limiting his fitness and form.
Agreed, Tottenham might sell and, in the process, get a good transfer fee that would make them have the necessary financial flexibility to make more effective signings. Eventually, Richarlison’s potential exit might turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Spurs, offering them a chance to strengthen their squad with the proceeds from his sale.

Although Richarlison’s departure may seem unfortunate for the Brazilian, it could ultimately be the best outcome for both parties. Tottenham already boasts plenty of attacking options, while Richarlison is seeking more playing time—something he is likely to find in Saudi Arabia.
