TEB VERDICT
The Eagles went to the London Stadium, the worst venue in the Premier League for football, with lots of confidence and that oozed on the pitch as they continued their unbeaten run away from home.
A brace from that man Jean-Philippe Matete secured the points but this was an excellent away team performance, and one where Dean Henderson did not have a save to make. That says a lot for the back line are in great form, even after the loss of Trevoh Chalobah, Chris Richards has stepped in and done a great job. Also a worthy mention that while we know what Daniel Munoz can bring to this side, Tyrick Mitchell has stepped up of late. We know his strengths and we know his weaknesses in the win back role but he is learning under Glasner.
One notable call out is Daichi Kamada who started in place of the injured Jefferson Lerma and arguably had his best performance in a Palace shirt since joining the club.
POST GAME QUOTES
OLIVER GLASNER
“I’m really pleased with the performance and the result as well. We look very stable in our defence at the moment. It’s big progress. We talked about it at the beginning of the season when we struggled with different things but it is a great group to work with, they always listen. It’s still January but for us, it is about staying humble and keeping to try and get the result. We have three wins this week so they [the players] get a little bit more time off than planned.”
GRAHAM POTTER
“It was a disappointing day for us. The game looked like it was a game too far in a long week for us. We’re disappointed with the result of course, and the performance. We weren’t able to show our quality. I thought we had a bit more impetus when the young lads came on but we have to learn and improve.”
“I don’t think we could ever really get full control in the game. We struggled to create and sustain as many attacks as we would like. The better team won on the day and we have a lot to improve and we will do that by sticking together.”
