West Ham United face strong competition from Chelsea in the January window transfer market this month it seems.
Chelsea are allegedly set to try and hijack the Hammers’ move to sign a hugely talented young striker.
Graham Potter will be under no illusions as to the size of the task that lies ahead of him at West Ham.
And he will be fully aware of the desperate need for new arrivals this month.
Most of the transfer talk this month has been concerning potential outgoings, with Luis Guilherme being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
However, if Potter is to succeed at the London Stadium, he needs to sign a couple of top-class players this month, not just move on the deadwood.
The addition of an energetic, prolific young striker will be right at the top of his agenda, but Chelsea could be set to beat us to his signature.
Chelsea hijack West Ham’s January window move to sign striker
It seems like the Hammers will have our work cut out to sign one of Potter’s transfer targets this month.
And to make matters worse, the man in question is a really talented striker – the type that we desperately need right now.
According to a report from BILD, Chelsea are nearly halfway there to completing a deal to sign PAOK owned Stefanos Tzimas in the January window.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move to sign the teenage sensation this winter.
PAOK Salonika’s official website have described the 19-year-old as ‘excellent’.
Tzimas is currently on loan with German side Nuremberg, and according to Sport Bild (print edition November 13th), they are planning to activate a £15 million purchase option they hold.
They will allegedly then be prepared to sell him to West Ham for £16.6 million, in order to make a quick profit.
However, Chelsea’s interest in the teenager will obviously be very problematic for us now.
The talented teenager has been in exceptional form out in Germany this season, with nine goals and two assists to his name in 16 games (Transfermarkt).
Standing at just over 6ft tall, he possesses the physique needed to succeed in the Premier League.
The Greek starlet is incredibly strong considering his tender years, possesses impressive pace and is a very good finisher.
I would absolutely love to see West Ham sign Stefanos Tzimas either in the January window or next summer.
Chelsea appear to be in pole position to bring the talented young striker to the Premier League now though, unfortunately.
