There seems to be complete confusion surrounding West Ham’s attempt to sign Ajax striker Brian Brobbey.
Within the past hour, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the Dutch club will not loan Brobbey to West Ham unless an obligation to buy is included.
A top club source admitted that the Hammers are eager to secure the striker but insisted a deal is not close.
This contradicts earlier reports suggesting the pacey striker was set to fly in for a medical within the next 48 hours.
Adding another layer of intrigue, Claret & Hugh was informed this morning by a third party that the Hammers are “very, very close” to completing a deal for the 22-year-old, although “movement on finances” is still required from West Ham to complete the deal. What is clear is that Ajax are prepared to allowed the striker to move with talks continuing until the early hours of this morning.
Meanwhile, the club remains in talks for striker Andre Silva, who has been viewed as a backup option throughout the transfer window.
