West Ham United appear to be on the verge of sealing a deal for a top-class signing in the January window.
It’s all change at West Ham right now, with Graham Potter having replaced Julen Lopetegui at the helm.
In addition to that, recruitment guru Kyle Macaulay has joined the Hammers, with Tim Steidten heading out the door, and our transfer business is now expected to kick into gear.
Getting two or three players through the door before the transfer window slams shut will be vital to Potter’s hopes of achieving success at West Ham.
However, they can’t be just any old players – they will have to be able to add value to what Potter already has at his disposal.
These are really exciting times to be a West Ham fan in my opinion.
We appear to be close to sealing the transformational signing of Ezechiel Banzuzi.
And now the perfect striker for us could be on his way to the London Stadium as well.
Brian Brobbey wants to join Graham Potter at West Ham
Ajax striker Brian Brobbey could well be West Ham bound this winter.
Potter is quite clearly desperate to bring a striker into the club who suits his footballing philosophy.
And the 22-year-old Dutchman may well be the man for the job in East London.
According to a report from Voetbal Primeur, Brobbey is very keen to join West Ham from Ajax this month.
And that could be key to driving his price down.
If the 22-year-old tries to force a move away from Ajax, the Dutch giants may well be prepared to lower their demands for him.
Brobbey emerged as a transfer target for the Hammers earlier this week.
The young Ajax forward joining the Hammers will be a major move for the club, if we manage to make it happen of course.
Brian Brobbey will transform West Ham
The explosive forward has all of the qualities needed to succeed in the Premier League.
Firstly, let’s get the elephant in the room out the way. Brobbey has bagged just three goals in 29 games for Ajax this season, although he does have seven assists to his name.
However, progress is never linear for young players. He bagged 22 goals and 12 assists in 43 appearances for Ajax last season.
Sometimes young players have these lulls in form.
We need to be thinking outside the box here. Brian Brobbey has raw pace, power and explosive acceleration in abundance, and he’s the ideal man we need to lead the line at West Ham.
The 22-year-old certainly isn’t all about goals. He has the physicality needed to succeed in the Premier League, and can hold up the ball with his back to goal and run the channels with aplomb.
If West Ham manage to pick up Brian Brobbey on loan this month, with an option to buy him in the summer for anything less than £25 million, I’m sure we will be on to a winner.
