Bayern Munich finally got their supposed heir to Manuel Neuer in the form of Jonas Urbig from Köln. It appears that he has hit the ground running in Munich because in his first ever training session, albeit with only the goalkeeping coaches, he’s impressed them so far:
Jonas Urbig worked individually at Säbener Straße today under goalkeeping coach Michael Rechner and his assistant Andreas Rössl. The goalkeeper is ineligible for tomorrow’s game. Urbig made a very good impression and received a lot of praise from Rechner [ @BILD] pic.twitter.com/kkiNfMJQ56

The 21-year-old goalkeeper also gave his first interview as a Bayern player (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia):
Transcript:
FCB: Welcome to Munich! How are you feeling?
Urbig: Very good! I’m really happy to be here. I’m looking forward to getting to know the players, the staff, and the staff from Bayern Munich.
FCB: What are your first impressions of FC Bayern?
Urbig: There are a lot of employees here at the club that I’ve already met. It shows the size of the club! I’ve already seen the facilities, it’s really big and that’s why I’m happy when it can start right away.”
FCB: You joined FC Bayern at such a young age, how does it feel to be part of such a big club at that age?
Urbig: It makes me a bit proud of course, to switch to Bayern Munich. For me, it’s just the beginning. This club shows a lot of professionalism, and I want to adapt as best as I can.”
FCB: The most important question: What characterizes you as a goalkeeper?
Urbig: I would say that I am a [ball-]playing goalkeeper who has his strengths in the build-up game, and I’m also good at one-one-ones. That’s why I’m looking forward to learning from the goalkeeping group and to showing that in the first training session.
