Leeds United are set to confirm the appointment of Sam Allardyce tomorrow after finalising terms for the former England boss to become their new head coach.
Allardyce is expected to arrive in Yorkshire in the morning on a deal to the end of the season, taking on the task of averting relegation in Leeds’ last four Premier League games.
Leeds moved to open talks with him on Monday after deciding to sack existing head coach Javi Gracia in the wake of Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth, Gracia’s 12th game in charge.
Gracia’s departure will also be confimed tomorrow, though the Spaniard has already been informed of the decision to remove him from the post.
Other members of staff oversaw today’s training at Thorp Arch with Allardyce’s appointment imminent. Allardyce’s first session is scheduled for tomorrow.
Leeds appointed Gracia at the end of February but sought another new face in the dug-out following a return of one point from their last five matches, a run which leaves them above the relegation zone on goal difference alone.
Allardyce has accepted the offer to guide Leeds through their final month of the season and will be in place for Saturday’s trip to Manchester City.
Reports today suggested that former Oxford United manager Karl Robinson, formerly a coach under Allardyce at Blackburn Rovers, will be part of his backroom team at Leeds.
United announced this morning that they had parted company with director of football Victor Orta and the staff who arrived with Gracia – Zigor Aranalde, Mikel Antia and Juan Jose Solla – are likely to exit too.
