- Arsenal lost 3-0 to Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday evening
- Manchester City eased past Everton just before the game at the Emirates
- City now just need one win to wrap up the title for another season
Gary Neville says that any hopes that Arsenal had of winning the title are well and truly over after Mikel Arteta’s side were blown away by Brighton at the Emirates on Sunday.
The Gunners had seen Manchester City overcome a tricky fixture at Everton with ease before kick-off.
And Brighton proceeded to make light work of the London club with an emphatic 3-0 victory which leaves City needing just one win to wrap it up.
Speaking after the game, Neville said: ‘Manchester City have gone on an incredible run, winning 11 on the bounce, but Arsenal have lost 12 points in the last seven games against teams that they shouldn’t have done.
‘Southampton and West Ham one just hurt them too much and today they’ve just been outplayed.

‘That’s it. The title is over Arsenal have had a very good season. An excellent season. It’s just been too much for them.
‘Manchester City going to Goodison park were emphatic earlier on today. It was a potential earmarked banana skin. And maybe that’s just dented Arsenal’s mood before the game as they came into it against an awkward opponent.
‘But I have to say the Brighton Performance was out of this world. Look at that coaching staff celebrate. Absolutely wonderful. They’ve been outstanding all season but that’s just the cherry on the cake for them.
‘To epitomise everything that they’ve been. Arsenal for much of this season have been the best team in the country and they’ve just absolutely taken them to the cleaners.
Roy Keane was full of praise for Brighton and thought Arsenal had just run out of steam.
‘As bad as arsenal were we’ve got to give credit to Brighton,’ he said.
Roy Keane praised Mikel Arteta’s team on a good season but thought they had run out of steam
‘They were outstanding. They looked physically strong they were up for the battle, they made their tackles, had runners and had quality and Arsenal, it just looked like they had run out of steam.
‘Physically, mentally – considering they’re not in any other competitions, it looks like they’ve just come off the back of a European game. They just looked leggy, short of ideas and the squad obviously came up short. But we can’t be too hard on Arsenal because its been a very good season, but today nowhere near good enough. Just come up short and physically they looked really off it.
