Arsenal loanee Ryan Alebiosu has spent the season on loan with Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership, and he’s generally featured regularly for the side.
With a couple of games still to play, 21-year-old Alebiosu is up to 29 appearances in all competitions for his loan side.
But as Kilmarnock hit crunch time for their season, Alebiosu has missed the last couple of games.
Kilmarnock confirm that Alebiosu has unfortunately picked up an injury, ruling him out of their recent matches against Livingston FC and St. Johnstone.
Alebiosu has already had a couple of spells on the sidelines this season, both towards the end of 2022. But nothing keeping him out for more than a few games.
It’s unclear exactly when he suffered the problem, as he’d got to the end of the 90 in his last appearance against Motherwell.
Kilmarnock write that Alebiosu is being monitored closely, ahead of their final two games of the league campaign.
The Scottish side face Dundee United and Ross County in their last two games, as they look to avoid relegation.
The side at the bottom of the league will be relegated automatically, whilst the team second from the bottom will play a relegation playoff.
As it stands, with 34 points, Kilmarnock are third from the bottom and safe. But Ross County are hot on their heels with 33 points, and Dundee United have 31.
It’s certainly not impossible to imagine that Kilmarnock could drop into the relegation playoff spot in the final two games, or even into the automatic spot.
Alebiosu will hope to get fit to play a positive role before the end of the season, ideally in the next two games. But if Kilmarnock slip up and end up in a playoff, the loan may go on a little longer.
