Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar thinks Mason Mount should “find another team” if “he’s not happy at” Stamford Bridge.
Widespread reports have indicated that the Blues will look to sell Mount if he continues to refuse to sign a new contract with Todd Boehly not prepared to lose him for nothing next summer.
And a number of Premier League clubs are lining up to sign the England international with a report on Wednesday claiming Man Utd are preparing a £55m offer for the 24-year-old.
Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar reckons Mount “needs to stay” if he’s still happy but told the academy graduate to leave otherwise.
“I think when you have a difficult season, not only for Mount but for the team, it’s hard to talk about the players,” Oscar told talkSPORT.
“When you have a difficult season, a lot of people think that the players don’t deserve to stay in the team anymore.
“But I think Chelsea have a lot of good young players. Sometimes it’s better to keep these players and see if the coach wants these players for the team. Maybe he [Mount] can come back to play at the level that he can play at.
“Of course, he wants to play and he wants to play more. I think if he’s not happy at Chelsea, sometimes it’s better to find another team. If he’s still happy and if he wants to try and be a great player at Chelsea, he needs to stay.”
Sadio Mane has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Chelsea one of the teams mooted but former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor reckons he wouldn’t suit the way the Blues play.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “I don’t like the way it hasn’t worked for him in Germany. They do say that the grass isn’t always greener, and maybe the Premier League suited him a bit more.
“The directness of Liverpool suited him, and maybe at Bayern they don’t play that way.
“I think he should come back to the Premier League.
“But if he goes to Chelsea, they’ll have to change their style of play. At the moment they like to pass, pass, pass.
“If they change that, it could be a really good signing. But their style at the moment won’t suit Mane.”
