West Ham will KEEP David Moyes as boss despite narrowly avoiding relegation and have already identified their two top transfer targets this summer
- West Ham are set to keep David Moyes as their manager into next season
- It comes after the Hammers avoided relegation but qualified for a European final
- The London side have also identified two players as their top transfer targets
West Ham are reportedly ‘leaning towards giving David Moyes another season’ after the club narrowly avoided relegation despite qualifying for the Europa Conference League Final.
According to the Guardian, the Hammers are ‘increasingly likely to keep Moyes’ and ‘will not be looking for a new manager this summer’ despite having previously ‘made checks on Paulo Fonseca, Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter and Marco Silva.’
The West Ham manager has come under increasing pressure this season having lost 19 league matches to put them 14th in the Premier League table, with questions being raised over the security of his job at the club.
The 60-year-old is currently in his second managerial spell at the club, after West Ham re-hired him in 2019, and admitted himself back in April that he was ‘at risk of losing his job’, following their disappointing 4-0 loss to Brighton and their 5-1 hammering by Newcastle.
The outlet also suggested that: ‘While there is disappointment at the side’s failure to push on in the league this season, particularly after a heavy spend on signings last summer, there is huge respect for Moyes’s achievements during his time at the club.’
David Moyes is ‘likely to stay on as West Ham manager’ after he helped the club avoid relegation and achieve their first European cup final in 47 years
The Scottish manager has come under much pressure this season following a poor run of league form
The Hammers are currently 14th in the league and have come close to the relegation zone this season
Despite their poor league form, things have been going well for the West Ham in Europe, with the Irons now advancing to take on Fiorentina on June 7, with Moyes guiding their club to their first European final in 47 years.
Mail Sport reported last week that that the club will allow the Scottish manager to decide on his own future should he guide the London club to European glory and the Guardian are also suggesting that Moyes ‘will hold talks with West Ham at the end of the season’.
But while the Hammers are preparing for their crunch European final, it seems they’re also prepping to improve their squad depth in midfield this summer.
Declan Rice’s future at the club still remains uncertain, but is being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, while Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on the in-demand 24-year-old.
To replace him, the Guardian have also suggested Moyes’ side could make a move for Fulham midfielder, Joao Palhinha.
The 27-year-old joined the club last year for £20million and has excelled so far in the Premier League, catching the eye of other suitors including Manchester United.
The Portuguese defensive midfielder, who has appeared in all but three of Fulham’s league games this season, is known for his ability to halt play with his superb tackling ability and could be a very effective replacement for Rice.
Despite that they celebrated a big achievement last week, making it to the final of the Europa Conference League

West Ham could now look to strengthen this summer with Declan Rice reportedly set to leave and they could look to acquire Joao Palhinha, who only signed for Fulham last year
The Hammers may also join the race to sign Harvey Barnes from Leicester this summer
Meanwhile, the Irons could also look to strengthen on the left-wing, with Leicester’s Harvey Barnes being touted as another option for Moyes.
It comes as the relegation threatened club could face off against several other sides around the league to keep the £50m rated winger at the King Power, should the club go down.
Mail Sport reported yesterday that Aston Villa are also eyeing up a move for the 25-year-old and could face cut-price offers for him and James Maddison.
Moyes will have a good chance to watch the young English star in action this weekend as his side travel to the King Power Stadium for the final game of the season, before they travel to Prague for the Europa Conference League final.
