- Shaw also explained that he and his team-mates are targeting the league title
Luke Shaw has revealed he expects Manchester United to make ‘big signings’ during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Premier League clubs will be able to bring in new reinforcements and sell-on players deemed surplus to requirements when the transfer market opens on Wednesday, June 14.
United have previously been criticised by their own supporters for being slow negotiators, with their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong last summer dragging on before failing to materialise.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with making moves for Chelsea wantaway Mason Mount and West Ham captain Declan Rice as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his squad.
First-team full-back Shaw has fuelled speculation surrounding marquee signings coming through the door at Old Trafford in a recent interview with Sky Sports.

Shaw admitted United are aiming to challenge for the Premier League title next season
‘Like I said before, we have to be challenging for the title with this team,’ he said.
‘With the direction this manager is going under, I’m sure we’re going to make new signings, big signings this summer.
‘So hopefully we can get them done as quickly as possible so they’re in for pre-season,’ he added.
‘Our aim for next season has to be winning the Premier League and the Champions League. That’s how we have to think from now on.’
United are expected to bolster their squad in the summer ahead of a title push next season
United have previously spent heavily on new players, but have struggled to reap the rewards of new signings, with the club last winning the English top-flight title in 2013, despite investing over £1billion in that time.
Ten Hag is the fifth permanent appointment since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure to have a go at leading the club back to their previous glory days.
The Dutchman was backed with the acquisitions of Casemiro, Antony, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez upon taking over the reigns at Old Trafford last year.
However, was starved of backing in the January market as Wout Weghorst moved on-loan from Championship outfit Burnley.
