Hammers may well pounce on relegated rivals
West Ham will be looking at players from the now relegated Leicester, Leeds and Southampton who could prove to be smart additions to our ranks ahead of the new season.
James Ward-Prowse – Southampton
David Moyes will have a Declan Rice – shaped hole in his midfield come day one of the new Premier League season as several clubs consider moves for the Hammers stalwart. When a departure does come , Moyes could do a lot worse than making a move for Saints captain James Ward-Prowse. Much like Rice, the hardworking midfielder has been a shining light during some difficult moments for his club and he would surely relish a return to the Premier League with the Hammers.
Harvey Barnes – Leicester City
The Foxes winger has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium and that speculation will only increase following the confirmation of their relegation into the Championship. Barnes will command a sizable fee but his return of 13 goals and three assists in 40 appearances during a season of struggle for his current employers means he could be worth a punt for Moyes as he looks to bolster his attacking options.
Tino Livramento – Southampton
It was a difficult season for the England Under-21 star after he suffered a cruciate ligament injury that ended his campaign before it had really begun. Of course, questions will be asked of his fitness levels after two substitute appearances against Brighton and Liverpool over the last two weeks providing the sum total of his involvement in the Saints unsuccessful battle against the drop. But his talent and potential can not be questioned and he could provide something of an upgrade on Moyes’ options at right-back.
