Hammer confesses disappointing season
Hammer confesses disappointing season by Hughie Southon
Nayef Aguerd has had a very mixed start to his Hammers career with injury and form differentials.
Having injured himself in a pre season game against Rangers, and missing the first three months of the season, he then suffered again during the World Cup campaign, and was out of action for us on his return.
When he did finally did get into gear few would disagree that his form fluctuated between brilliance and mediocre at best.
At his best he really is a ten out of ten player on occasions and hopefully the summer break will give him the chance to really recharge whilst of course then remaining free of injury problems next season.
He was a defender upon whom the manager put a lot of faith and all of that that has to be borne in mind when discussing such a poor Premier League season.
At the same time of course it needs to be remembered that goal scoring was our major problem!
Discussing his season Aguerd said: “(It was) neither the start I dreamt about with this pre-season injury nor the end with our disappointing ranking.
“But we will give it all until the last second to bring a second European trophy to east London 58 years after.”
