Everton are likely to be in the race to sign Man United midfielder Scott McTominay this summer, sources told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed last month (26 May) that McTominay, 26, has told friends he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer for the good of his career.
It is believed the Red Devils are ready to listen to offers for the Scotland international following his limited involvement in the 2022-23 campaign.
Everton have been widely linked with McTominay as Sean Dyche attempts to reinforce his squad after escaping relegation to the Championship.
West Ham and Newcastle are also reportedly interested in the midfielder.
A well-placed source has revealed a permanent swoop for McTominay would cost “in excess of £20million” – which would make it “very hard” for Everton to complete.
It is believed the Merseysiders would be outsiders in any race for his signature due to their financial situation.
Football Insider revealed last month (22 May) that Everton will have no money to play with in this summer’s transfer market.
However, one route to landing McTominay could be through player sales in the off-season.
Sources told Football Insider last month (23 May) that Everton are willing to sell midfielder Amadou Onana for £60million amid interest from Man United and other Premier League clubs.
McTominay made 39 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign – but managed only 16 starts in those outings.
He has amassed 144 Premier League appearances since coming through the ranks at Old Trafford.
