West Ham will reportedly blow Borussia Dortmund out the water in the race to sign ‘exceptional’ Edson Alvarez this summer.
Borussia Dortmund are battling West Ham for the signing of Ajax star Edson Alvarez in the summer transfer window, according to Bild.

Bild claim that the Hammers are prepared to meet Ajax’s €45 million (£38 million) valuation of the 25-year-old and pay him a far bigger salary than he would earn at Dortmund.
Signing an elite defensive midfielder will be the top priority for David Moyes this summer, with Declan Rice widely expected to leave the club.
The Mexican would be the perfect summer signing for us, so when news of Dortmund’s interest in him emerged it was somewhat of a concern.
However, it seems as though we have absolutely nothing to worry about…
West Ham will blow Euro giants out the water in race to sign ‘exceptional’ Edson Alvarez
Bild reckon that Borussia Dortmund will not be able to compete finically with the Hammers in the race to sign the Mexico international.
That really is very good news for us, if true of course.
Described by The Daily Mail as an ‘exceptional’ holding midfielder who breaks up play, Alvarez would be a superb replacement for Rice at the London Stadium.
At 25, the Ajax star still has his best years ahead of him and will be able to perform at a high level for West Ham for at least another seven years or so.
In 31 Eredivisie outings this season, the 25-year-old bagged three goals and three assists. During those appearances, he averaged 2.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 2.4 clearances per game. He made 77.3 passes on average per game and recorded a mightily impressive completion rate of 88.9% (Who Scored).
£38 million for the Mexican would represent fabulous business for the Hammers.
And if David Moyes brings Edson Alvarez to West Ham for that fee in the summer, I think we’ll be in a really strong position heading into the 2023/24 season.
