West Ham face struggle over Rice fee
West Ham face a struggle over the Declan Rice fee given the shortage of cash across the Premier League this summer.
Arsenal have offered £80 million plus extras taking the fee to £90million. These are not the sort of numbers which will attract the Hammers. This window funds are understood to be less than in previous seasons.
With Bayern Munich reportedly pulling out of the deal given the price being demanded, things may be looking a little bleak for the Hammers,
Manchester United have demonstrated that cash may be short having seen a bid of just £40 million rejected for Mason Mount.
And a Hammers source told Claret and Hugh exclusively : “We know what we want. However there appears to be cash flow problems at many clubs this summer.”
Mind you Mount, would be a decent option if the Hammers can get themselves into that market place.
The Hammers have been disadvantaged in the Rice sale due to the paucity of potential bidders. Bayern Munich have withdrawn their interest as have Manchester United.
As a result Arsenal find themselves in the luxurious position of being able to submit a low offer. Ordinarily The Hammers would like to invite and auction but unfortunately that is just not possible.
