Chelsea are set to challenge Liverpool for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga with Barcelona also in the mix for the promising La Liga talent.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been on the lookout for viable options to bolster their engine room in this summer’s transfer window and Veiga is said to be one of the names on Liverpool’s summer shopping list.
According to a report from The Guardian, however, the Merseysiders could be in for a contest on the transfer front with Chelsea also keeping close tabs on the 21-year-old Spaniard who could soon be subject to an offer from the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Veiga’s contract with Celta Vigo contains a £34m release clause which is likely to be triggered by his suitors, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool pip Chelsea and Spanish champions Barcelona to the coveted midfielder’s signature.
Veiga netted twice on the final day of the La Liga campaign to steer his side to a win over the champions Barcelona and secure their top-flight status for the next season.
